"And What About You?" – Supporting Women's Mental Health During Pregnancy and Postpartum

Updated: Mar 20

"And What About You?" is an initiative advocating for the integration of mental health monitoring into routine prenatal and postpartum care. Perinatal depression is one of the most common complications of pregnancy and childbirth, yet diagnosis rates remain low despite its impact on mothers, infants, and families.

The initiative aims to increase early detection, particularly during pregnancy, and raise awareness among expectant and new mothers. It seeks to provide accessible information, reduce stigma and fear, and encourage women to seek appropriate medical care.

The project is working to incorporate mental health screening into digital healthcare tools, including pregnancy-tracking apps of health providers. Additionally, it promotes policy changes to ensure that emotional well-being is monitored just as physical health is.

Project Team:

  • Yifat Avital – Project founder, activist for women’s health

  • Sharon Livne – Project manager, activist, and social entrepreneur specializing in gender-based healthcare.

  • Yael Zilberman – Social entrepreneur, marketing manager in the medical cannabis industry, co-founder and co-host of the podcast "Full Moon."

  • Dr. Bat Zion Shahar – OB-GYN specialist and maternal-fetal medicine.

  • Shaked Rosenblum – Clinical neuropsychology student with a background in medical entrepreneurship.
